Bathing has become a full-contact activity. Although he takes some time to warm up in the tub, once he starts feeling the groove, it's ON!

Where is the pause button?
This is my last day of maternity leave. I'm in denials that soon, very soon, Joe & I will not be spending all day long together. And that I will have to get dressed, brush my hair, and interact with people professionally on a daily basis.
These days, Joe is a joy. He loves to ride in the carrier and look around, whether we are on a walk through the neighborhood or at Target.
Being on a changing table produces the most smiles, not because of the actual diaper change, but because he gets to swat at Morty Moose hanging over his head and also has a chance to practice grabbing his toes (which he is getting very good at!). He also loves to show off how strong he is by doing lots of big wiggles and stretches, and, at the end of diaper changes, doing some sit-ups. He is super eager to sit up and will not let you cradle him like a baby! He's been testing out the bumbo lately and had some fun with some of his Uncle Evo's Sesame Street Weebles.
When the time comes to go to sleep, Joe might fight it a little, but is way more willing than either of his parents to actually sleep. He gets zipped up in a swaddle, a pacifier is popped in his mouth and after a few minutes of rocking he is usually out cold. Luckily, when he falls asleep the pacifier falls out and he doesn't need it anymore. At night, we're getting him used to taking a bath, having a quick massage, and a few books (whatever we have time for) before putting him down.
And speaking of sleeping, we just got a video monitor so that we can see him when he's sleeping! It's fascinating to see how much he moves in his sleep, and to track his sleep cycles a little. It's pretty cool to see that he is going from one cycle to the next, because then I know that I have at least another 45 minutes before he wakes up. Not that I get anything done during those 45 minutes, but still...
Enough of this for now - must go get some more snuggles in!

Joe's First Beach Trip!
Some very nice ladies invited Joe & I to spend some time with them at the beach last week!
Joe spent a lot of time on the beach walking and looking around. He got sand between his toes and dunked them in the ocean every day.
He (& I) even took naps on the beach. It was extra easy to get him to sleep out there. I think he likes it as much as I do!
Attention was never in short supply, but if we needed reminding, there was this sign at the pool.

He's Getting Older...QUICK!!
| He's Getting Older...QUICK!! (click photo to enter album) |
Hi everyone! Check out a few new pictures of me! I've been busy lately, and you can see what it is that I have been up to. I went to a lake for the first time, my grandmother came to visit and I also showed off some strength with being able to hold my head up while drooling!
Bookmark these because, next week, I'll look totally different again!
Congratulations to my older brother, Walker, for making the 7th grade football team! yaaaaayyy! They won their first game of the season 22-0! Not a bad way to start. Way to go Walker!
